Chaos Article - Magicians First Sigil.
This article will describe what sigils are, the principles behind them and how to create and use them.
So, what is a Sigil ?
Sigils, from my understanding and experience are a created piece of art (a picture, small doll/figurine etc) that symbolises an intent that the magician wishes to manifest.
Sigils are widely used by a lot of different magicians, and are used throughout a lot of different magickal systems.
They can be used to do a lot of different things, for example I’ve personally used one to achieve lucid dreams, improve my remote viewing ability. However, they can also be used to meet new people, find lost objects, manifest personality traits in yourself (confidence, out-going ness) and the list goes on.
Basically any intent you have can be manifested though sigilization (well, not any intent, you couldn’t kill anybody with it, and I’m sure you wouldn’t want to)
Okay, so how do they work?
The main idea behind Sigils is that the human sub-conscience has the ability to manifest intent into reality. The sub-conscience has a very advanced creative ability, they can create things far beyond the conscience mind. I mean look at some of the places your dreams are set in, would you be able to create such detailed and realistic places on your own, I think not.
So, how do sigils fit into this idea. Well, sigils are basically symbolised intent, and symbols are the sub-conscience native tongue, they’re language so to speak. If we can create symbols of our intent that our sub-conscience can understand then it can start to work on manifesting it. Simple, right?
Ok, How exactly do you make one of these “Sigil” thingies then?
Sigils can be made in any number of manner, but I will give you one simple method to make them with.
To start with, get your intent, and make it into a sentence, for example, If you wanted to have lucid dreams it would be “ I have lucid dreams while I’m sleeping”.
Get two pieces of paper and write your sentence on one of them in capital letters. Then, take all repeated letters out of the sentence. So “ I have lucid dreams while I’m sleeping” Becomes:
“IHAVELUCDRMSWPNG“.
Basically you turn your intent into gibberish.
Now, on the other piece of paper, you use this gibberish to create a picture. This picture will be an symbol of your intent.
Take the first letter and draw it on the other piece of paper, but as you draw it, change its shape, change its size or make it into something else totally. For example, turn an M into an bat, or an O into an moon. Do this with all the letters until you have something that doesn’t even resemble the original intent, or the gibberish at that. You have now created the symbol of your intent, the Sigil.
I have my Sigil, what do I do with it?
Now, you have to communicate this Sigil to your sub-conscience.
One way to do this is to take your Sigil and put it in front of you.
Clear your mind of the original intent, make it so that you don’t know what the sigil means.
Take whatever amount of time you need to do this, minutes, hours, days just until it means nothing. Or at least, close to nothing. Once this is done take your sigil and stare at it. Analyze everything, take all of it in every little detail, every little dot. Take whatever amount of time to do this. Once this is done take the sigil and hide it somewhere where you wont see it in every day life. A nice hidden spot where it wont be noticed. Then forget about it, forget all about it and just carry on with everyday life.
With any luck it will do it work and manifest the intent
